Let's Get it Started in Heeya

Ok. I've been wanting to start a blog about ME for awhile now. I was introduced to blogging back in 2007 as a work assignment with a few coworkers. When the assignment ended, so did my blog. My interest in blogging surfaced again earlier this year, after the birth of my second daughter, whom I shall call Chunkin. (And yes, she is a chunky lil gal...much bigger at 3 months old than her older, petite sister Peanut.) I started running in 2009 after a friend encouraged me to train for a 5K. I absolutely loved running. It was something I could do and do well. I am not fast and haven't won any races, but running has given me so much confidence. I tried running a few times when I was in college, but the heavy panting and side stitches had me quit quick. This time, I was not going to quit. I was determined to learn how to run. I went on to run several 5Ks, a 10K and a half-marathon in one year until I had to stop running, via doctor's orders, when I became pregnant with Chunkin early last year. I'm now 3 months post-partum and my doc has given me the green light to resume running. Undoubtedly, I was anxious to resume running because I didn't know how my body would react. That is, would I pop a stitch and have to stop running forever? How slow did I get after not running for nearly a year? So, I turned to the Web and read as much as I could about how to ease back into running. I actually sent a question to the Happy Runner and asked for her advice on easing back. Such a great help! I run now about 3-4 times a week. My longest run is 6 miles. I've even mixed in a little interval training to keep things interesting. I've discovered a whole new world in blogdom, and I'm really enjoying reading about other mothers trying to balance running and taking care of their families, or powerful women kicking butt with their runs. I love it!
